WAR WITHIN

lost in a world no one understands
confused in a maze no one comprehends
walked through this labyrinth and still no exit

the fog ahead keeps me delusioned
perhaps i can make my way in this haze
maybe this bright blue sky will lead me home
like a toddler i must learn this step
like a warrior this battle i must win

it rages in me with a fierce roar of a lion
it trumps my energy with fury of a turbulent sea wave
yet its pattern i must decipher
its seal i must recognize
its familiar awakening has been my sole bane


i can't get a grip of  me
i can't find the soul of my being
my mind is no longer lucid
my spirit is no longer roused
my flesh can't find its breath


that which keeps me awake at dusk i must conquer
that which controls my senses i must master
you whose company i dread must submit

fall from your height you haughty effigy
this foe whose company seeks me
today i flee from you
this moment i find my light
and this time, the war from many step taken is won.
